January 2005: First informational meeting about UAEM at Cal. First meeting with Office of Technology Licensing.
April 2005: Hosted event: “Using University Licensing Agreements to Promote Global Access to Essential Medicines: Jay Keasling and the Anti-Malarial Drug Artemisinin.”
September 2005: UAEM is approved as an Office of Student Life group
October 5, 2005: The ASUC approves UAEM as a Student-Initiated Service Group and endorses its mission (see relevant bill here).
October 15-16, 2005: Attended National UAEM Conference at Georgetown Law School, where members of UAEM at Cal met with 80 other students from 30 chapters around the country.
October 26, 2005: Hosted lecture by Steve Maurer: “When Patents Fail: Finding New Drugs for the Developing World.” See pictures of this event here.
January 24, 2006: Started De-Cal class on intellectual property and access to medicines
September 29 - October 1, 2006: Attended national conference in Philadelphia
